The Representation and Promotion component of Arts Across Canada funds provide travel grants linked to the promotion and the development of new markets for Canadian artists and artistic works.

These travel grants are available to Canadian registered or incorporated arts organizations that represent Canadian artists.

You must register in the portal at least 30 days before you apply.

Eligibility:

  • Travel within Canada must be at least 300 kilometers from your place of departure.
  • You can apply for single or several destinations within 1 trip and for multiple trips within 1 application, to:
    • formally represent and promote Canadian artists (i.e. through a contractual relationship)
    • build on an existing tour (for artists’ representatives only)
  • Types of potential applicants to this component include:
    • support groups, organizations, and shared platforms
    • magazine publishers
    • agencies, management service organizations and art dealers

Benefits

  • Grant Amount: Travel costs generally based on fixed amounts, up to $30 000
  • The grant covers:
    • Transportation costs generally based on fixed amounts
    • Accommodation and per diem, up to 5 days per trip
    • Additional shipping or baggage costs directly related to your activity, up to $2 500
    • Conference fees and booth rental costs for market development events

Note: Differently abled people, including those living with mental illness, and need accommodation at any stage of the application process may be eligible for additional assistance.

The Representation and Promotion component of Arts Abroad funds provide travel grants linked to the international promotion of Canadian artists and artistic works. Grants are available for registered or incorporated Canadian arts organizations to represent Canadian artists and develop their presence internationally and establish a place for Canadian arts practice in the global art market.

These travel grants are also available to foreign arts organizations that invite Canadian artists to showcase their artworks as well as to Canadian arts organizations that bring international buyers to Canada.

You must register in the portal at least 30 days before you apply.

Eligibility:

  • Travel must be outside of Canada, at least 500 kilometers from your place of departure.
  • You can apply for single or several destinations within 1 trip and for multiple trips within 1 application, to:
    • formally represent and promote Canadian artists (i.e. through a contractual relationship)
    • build on an existing tour (for artists’ representatives only)
    • bring international buyers to Canada
    • lead a Canadian delegation abroad
  • Types of potential applicants to this component include:
    • support groups, organizations, and shared platforms
    • national arts service organizations
    • festivals, presenters and touring networks
    • book and magazine publishers
    • agencies, management service organizations and art dealers
    • international literary, media arts and visual arts festivals

Grant Amount: Travel costs generally based on fixed amounts, up to $30 000

What can be covered with the grant:

  • Transportation costs generally based on fixed amounts
  • Accommodation and per diem, up to 5 days per trip
  • Additional shipping or baggage costs directly related to your activity, up to $2500
  • Conference fees and booth rental costs for market development events

This aim of this travel grants is to provide support to Canadian artists to attend significant events outside of Canada and build an international presence.

    • develop markets and networks (including participation in official showcases)
    • present artistic work

  • Types of potential applicants to this component include:
    • artists and curators
    • arts professionals

The travel component of Arts Creating, Knowing and Sharing funds First Nations, Inuit and Métis artists, arts/cultural professionals (including artists’ representatives), cultural carriers, artistic groups, collectives and organizations working in all disciplines.

This travel grant supports travel costs to attend significant events within Canada or abroad that advance your professional development, enable you or the artists you represent to access new markets or build a national and international presence.

Eligibility

  • Travel must be at least 100 kilometers from your place of departure, and by invitation.
  • You can apply for single or several destinations within 1 trip (if you are representing or promoting artists, you can request multiple trips) to:
    • share artistic works or cultural knowledge
    • participate in significant artistic or cultural events, including pow-wows
    • undertake research activities
    • build professional and artistic networks
    • engage in professional development opportunities
    • develop regional, national or international markets

Benefits

  • Grant Amount: Travel costs generally based on fixed amounts, up to $30 000
  • What can be covered with the grant:
    • Transportation costs generally based on fixed amounts
    • Accommodation and per diem, up to 5 days per trip (maximum of $150 per day)
    • Additional shipping or baggage costs directly related to your activity, up to $2 500
    • Registration fees, up to $1 000
