Mutual cooperation between ICS – Indian Chest Society and the International Workshop on Lung Health started in 2013. In 2018 both the parties decided – thanks to an idea of Dr. Raja Dhar – to promote a Travel Grant Program, which gives the opportunity to 3 abstract submitters from India to benefit of support for the Workshop travel (1.000 USA Dollar/75.000 Rs each).

After the success of the 2019 cooperation, ICS and IWLH will give again the travel grant opportunity to 3 Abstract submitters in 2020!

Tata Trusts is has op0ened call for applicants for its Travel Grant program to provide partial travel assistance to professionals and other employed people to enhance their professional or work-related skills through relevant training programmes, workshops or observerships The grant can be used for travel domestic and overseas.

Eligibility

  • Only individuals can apply for this grant.
  • The travel grant scheme is open to resident Indian only.
  • Application should be received at least two months prior to the date of Travel.
  • The Application must be accompanied by all mandatory documents as specified in the form.
  • Incomplete forms will be rejected and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

Considering the overwhelming response for the fixed grant scheme, Mathematical Research Impact-Centric Support (MATRICS), devised for active researchers pursuing Mathematical Sciences and the demand from researchers belonging to other Theoretical Sciences, the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) has decided to extend the fixed grant scheme to other Theoretical Sciences including Quantitative Social Sciences.

Objective

To provide fixed grant support to active researchers with good credentials in Mathematical Sciences, Theoretical Sciences, and Quantitative Social Sciences. The main attribute of this scheme would be the submission of a simple 1-2 page mathematical/theoretical proposal. The funding provided would cater to the specific needs of Mathematical/Theoretical Sciences research.

Eligibility

  • The applicant should be an active researcher in the field of (i) Mathematical Sciences and allied areas; (ii) Science and Engineering (excluding mathematical sciences) or (iii) Social Sciences involving quantitative analysis using mathematical, statistical and computational techniques.
  • The applicant should hold a Ph.D. or M.D./ M.S. / M.D.S./ M.V.Sc degree and must be working on a regular basis in academic institutions/national labs or any other recognized R&D institutions.
    [The term “Regular” refers to (1) Those who are appointed by the institutions against the ‘sanctioned‘ post and are regularized/confirmed after the probation period is over (2) Those who are appointed in a tenure post, but are likely to be renewed after the end of the tenure].
  • The applicant should have completed a Ph.D. or M.D./ M.S. / M.D.S./ M.V.Sc degree at least five years prior to the submission of a proposal, in order to have gained individual experience.
  • The applicant should have at least four years of service remaining before superannuation as on the date of submission of the proposal.

Road Map To Win A Travel Grant

Benefits

Research grant of Rs. 2 lakh p.a. plus overheads for a period of three years.

The purpose for which grants can be used:

  • Purchase of textbooks and monographs.
  • Purchase of minor equipment such as a workstation, laptop, etc.
  • Purchase of software for research purposes.
  • Travel support and payment of registration fee for invited talks or presenting a paper in national and international conferences.
  • Travel support for collaborative visits in India and abroad.
  • Travel support and other logistics for inviting students and young researchers for research activities.

Note:

  • An applicant is eligible to submit only one proposal during a call.
  • PIs who have received a grant under MATRICS/CREST cannot apply under SERB International Travel Support Scheme during the project duration.
  • Co-PIs are not allowed in the scheme.

ITS scheme by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) is designed to provide financial assistance for presenting a research paper or chairing a session or delivering a keynote address in an international scientific event like conference, seminar, symposium, workshop, etc. The organization promotes basic research in Science and Engineering and provide financial assistance to persons engaged in such research, academic institutions, research and development laboratories, industrial concerns and other agencies for such research and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto are the primary and distinctive mandate of the Board.

In addition, support is also provided to young scientists (age limit 35 years as on the date of the conference) for attending training programmes and short-term workshops or courses.

The travel grant includes economy class air-fare by the shortest route, airport-tax, and visa fees are provided under the scheme.

Registration fee is provided to a young scientist in addition to the above support.

Eligibility

  • Applicant should be an active Indian researcher engaged in R&D work in recognized academic institutions or research laboratories in India.
  • The applicant should have an invitation for presenting an original scientific paper. A similar invitation is required in the case of young scientists attending training programmes such as short term courses, summer/winter schools, workshop, etc.
  • The applicant should not have availed financial assistance under this Scheme during the last three years.
  • The scientific event should be of an international character. Invitation of personal nature such as for carrying out post-doctoral work, informal training programmes/courses, internship, observer-ship, etc. will not be eligible for support.
  • Applicant must have obtained a Master’s degree in Science or Bachelor’s degree in professional courses from a recognized University by the time of submission of application.

How and When to Apply:

  • The researchers are required to apply online through the portal www.serbonline.in between 60-90 days in advance prior to the start date of the event.
  • The system will not accept early or late submission of applications.
