Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Small Grant

The Graduate School’s Small Grant Program supports research expenses for arts, humanities, and social sciences master’s and doctoral students.

Eligibility

  •  Participants must be enrolled as masters or doctoral students at Kansas State University in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023. Only students in arts, humanities, and social sciences graduate programs are eligible (see list of eligible programs below). The project for which funding is requested must be an art, humanities, or social science-focused project.
  • Students previously allocated a Small Research Grant are not eligible for funding a second time.

Benefits

  • Grants will be $500-$1,000 for direct research costs with funds .

Application Process

Compile the following into a single PDF document, and label the file with your first and last name and SGP (e.g., Willie-Wildcat-SGP.pdf):

  1. Cover page with a signature from your major professor/advisor who is supervising your graduate research, scholarly, or creative work. Cover page form (pdf)
  2. One-page CV (single-spaced, 12pt font, one-inch margins)
  3. One-page research summary (single-spaced, 12pt font, one-inch margins)
    • In narrative form, summarize your research in up to 400 words (objectives, methodology overview, and contributions) and how you think it may be significant in your field.
    • In 100 words, describe how this grant will enhance your research at this time.
  4. Project budget (no page limit)
    • Provide a detailed, itemized plan for how grant funds will be used. Outline specific research expense items and their cost. A general category such as “printing” or “art supplies” with a single lump sum will not be considered.
