Doctoral Student Travel Support

Doctoral Student Travel Support grants provide invaluable financial assistance to graduate students, enabling them to attend conferences, present research findings, and engage in immersive experiences worldwide. Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Doctoral Student Travel Support grant program, students must meet the below criteria:

  • Be SIUE-classified graduate students, SIUE co-op Ph.D. students, or students in professional degree programs in pharmacy and dental medicine (including dental post-graduate residents)
  • Be in good academic standing (have a GPA of 3.0 or higher)
  • Are making satisfactory progress toward their degrees
  • Are enrolled at the time of travel or have graduated within one term of the conference/presentation date
  • Are NOT receiving any reimbursement or compensation for the presentation, exhibition, or performanceTherefore, Students who are not enrolled at the time of the conference/presentation must submit the volunteer agreement form with the application.

Benefits

  • Travel within or outside the U.S. will be supported to a maximum of $750 from the Graduate School. Students are encouraged to discuss potential supplemental sources of support with their departments and units. Please also refer to the guidelines about Travel Outside the Continental U.S. for further guidelines. If you are traveling internationally, contact University Risk Management for travel and insurance information.



Application Process

Information/Documents Required

  • Graduate Student Travel Request Form (accessed on the Graduate Student Forms website)
  • The projected budget for all costs associated with the travel/presentation
  • An abstract of the paper accepted for presentation
  • Documented proof showing a clear indication of peer review or special invitation (file upload)
  • Proof of acceptance to conference or exhibition and conference information (file upload)
  • Liability Release Form (file upload – form accessed on the Graduate Student Forms website)
  • ONLY if graduated at the time of travel/presentation: Volunteer Adult Waiver of Liability (file upload)
  • ONLY if traveling internationally: Temporary Export License Exception Form (file upload – form accessed on Graduate Student Forms website)
