Hurry up!! A limited number of JAAS Graduate Student Travel Grants are available for graduate students wishing to attend the OAH Conference on American History in Los Angeles, CA, March 30–April 2, 2023. Applications will be accepted from December 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022.
Eligibility
To apply, applicants must:
- Be a member of JAAS.
- Be born or raised in Japan, or otherwise have substantial ties with Japan.
- Be a student registered in a degree program in a U.S. graduate school.
- Live in the U.S. at the time of application.
- Commit to attending the entire OAH conference and submitting a report in English.

Application Process
- Please send the application to tsukuda@seijo.ac.jp
with the subject line “Application for 2023 OAH travel grant.” The application must include your name, affiliation, years in a U.S. graduate program, fields of specialization, Japanese colleges and universities you have attended (if any), and whether you have received a travel grant offered by the JAAS for an OAH or American Studies Association conference in the past. If you have, please also note when and whether you have presented at that time. Please also note if you are scheduled to present at the OAH Conference on American History in 2023.
