Research Travel Grant

Hurry Up!! The Inlaks Foundation is providing travel grants to young Indian students to develop their professional, scientific, artistic, and cultural abilities, both abroad and in India.

The Foundation focuses on providing scholarships, grants, and awards in various fields to outstanding young Indians to enable them to develop their professional, scientific, artistic, and cultural abilities, both abroad and in India. It prides itself on being open to a wide range of subjects, many of which are not covered by other fund-giving bodies. Over the last four decades, more than 460 scholars have benefited from overseas scholarships while over 600 others have received awards and Take-Off Grants in India and abroad. Opportunities in India are offered through the Inlaks India Foundation.

Eligibility

The applicant must

  • Be a registered Ph.D. candidate at an Indian university for at least two years but not more than three years at the time of the application.
  • Have a first-class degree at the Bachelor’s (Honors) and Master’s level.
  • Those born on or after 1 January 1987 are eligible to apply for the grant.
  • Be an Indian passport holder, currently resident in India.
  • The award is given only in Humanities and Social Sciences related subjects.

Application Process

  • The application form is accessible and downloadable below.
  • A sample of written work (3000-5000 words) on the subject of the research should accompany the application. This should preferably be a draft chapter (with full annotation and documentation) as part of the Ph.D. thesis along with details regarding the reading list, surveys, or any other work done towards the thesis.
  • Evidence of positive communication with the resource person or institution abroad and an agreement of the arrangements made.
  • Written evidence from the applicant’s Ph.D. supervisor stating:
  • The candidate’s ability, focus, and progress in the work done under her/his supervision.
  • The candidates need to go abroad.
  • That the funds for the visit abroad cannot be obtained from any other source.
  • Two letters of reference.
