The GPSA Individual Travel Grant exists to support and promote the success of ASU graduate and professional student research and professional development by increasing ASU’s reputation as a Research Extensive Institution, promoting the ASU graduate and professional student community at large, and fostering opportunities for professional growth.

Eligibility

  • The GPSA Individual Travel Grant awarded from this program is used to support individual student travel to regional, national, and international conferences only that are directly related to students’ graduate programs of study or professional development.
  • Travel MUST be directly related to the applicant’s program of study.
  • Students are eligible to apply for several grants up to a maximum of $950 in individual travel grant funding per fiscal year (July 1 through June 30).
  • This program runs on a monthly cycle.
  • You must be a current ASU graduate student (degree or non-degree seeking) enrolled in at least one graduate-level credit at the time of application and time of travel (summer enrollment not required) to apply. Online students are now eligible for GPSA Travel Grant funding.
  • 4 + 1 Masters students are eligible for the travel grant in their +1 year
  • Funding is not guaranteed as applications are selected competitively.

Benefits

  • The Travel Grant will cover costs of airfare, fuel/mileage if driving your own vehicle, ground transportation (taxi, shuttle services, trains, public transportation), hotels/lodging, meals, and event registration.
  • The cost of your meals can be calculated using the daily rate determined by ASU (per diem) for your destination. To determine this rate, visit here. For international rates click here.
  • In February 2019 the ASU Study Abroad office instituted a $3 a day charge for insurance on all student travel to locations outside the United States. Students will pay out of pocket and will be reimbursed from the GPSA grant when they submit an expense report. This fee counts towards the $950 total. When registering your trip please select the ‘Self Pay’ option when prompted.
  • The Travel Grant will NOT cover the cost of rental cars, phone calls, internet access charges, poster printing, or any expense prohibited by university policy. Expenses paid in cash are not reimbursable. Only pay with a credit card or check.
  • One-Way Fares: If you decide to purchase two one-way airfares instead of a round-trip fare, you will need to print a quote of a round-trip fare at the time your one-way fares were booked, in order to demonstrate to the ASU Travel Department that the round-trip fare is in fact more expensive.

Exciting news for those looking to enhance their skills and advance their careers in the dynamic world of screen and media! The Professional Development Fund, offered by Screen Scotland, is here to support your growth and development in the industry.

The Professional Development Fund is a remarkable opportunity designed to provide financial assistance to individuals working in the screen sector. Whether you’re a filmmaker, producer, screenwriter, or involved in any other aspect of screen production, this fund aims to empower you to take your skills and expertise to the next level.

Priority will be given to:

  • Developments in areas of skills shortages and
  • Applicants are under-represented in the screen industries.

Eligibility

Under-Represented Groups

  • Screen Scotland will prioritize applications from those who are underrepresented in our current funding programs. Current evidence indicates that these under-represented people are those who self-identify as disabled, those who come from Black and Minority Ethnic cultural backgrounds, and those who are women or have other gender-nonconforming identities. There have been several gender-focussed studies that indicate a particular under-representation of women in areas of Directing, Camera, Post-Production, and VFX.
  • Whilst Screen Scotland wishes to continue to support creative and developmental practice, we cannot accept avoidable or unmanaged risk to health and safety and our funding approach will be cautious in this regard. Applications should ensure that relevant Scottish Government guidance is being followed, and appropriate risk plans are in place and included with your application.

International travel

  • Applications to the Professional Development Fund can once again include travel, both UK and international, as long as Scottish Government advice is being followed (including any guidance on, or emanating from, the particular international locations you are planning to work in/ travel to) and appropriate risk management plans are in place and included with your application.
  • As regulations are changing frequently, please check the Scottish Government website at the time of applying and be aware this guidance may have altered by the time your application is being considered. The assessing officer and Director of Screen will have to take decisions based on the Scottish Government guidance current on that day.
  • Screen Scotland cannot be liable for any further costs incurred beyond those agreed in the grant award, including any costs incurred as a result of further COVID impact and/ or change in Scottish or other government regulations before or during the term of the project. If the funded activity becomes unviable as a result of changes to government guidance Screen Scotland reserves the right to recoup all or an element of the funding.
  • For the avoidance of doubt, Government guidance takes precedence over any statement by Screen Scotland.
