The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds Travel Grants

The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds (BIF) is a public foundation. It is an independent, non-profit organization for the exclusive and direct promotion of basic research in biomedicine.

The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds offers Travel Grants. The grants are provided to junior researchers. The researcher who is currently conducting an experimental project in basic biomedical research and wish to pursue a short-term research stay or attend a practical course of up to 3 months.

Eligibility

  • Ph.D. students or medical students pursuing an experimental doctoral thesis
  • postdocs who are pursuing a particular research project
  • graduates from abroad who have applied for a Ph.D. project, but who have not yet worked with their potential Ph.D. supervisor.
  • European citizens working in Europe and overseas. Also, non-European citizens who perform their MD, Ph.D. or postdoctoral project in Europe, or will use the travel grant to work in Europe.

What can be covered with the grant

  • Supports projects in the field of basic research aimed at elucidating basic biological phenomena of human life and acquiring new scientific knowledge. Please refer to conditions for further details.

Application procedure

The application for a Travel Grants of the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds consists of two parts;

Note: Applications may be submitted at any time but applications must reach the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds at least 6 weeks before the planned date of departure.
