16th Rocky Mountain Interventional Endoscopy Course - Travel Grant

The Rocky Mountain Interventional Endoscopy 2020 Course offers programs such as GI Nurse and Technicians Program, Fellows Advanced Endoscopy Program and Rocky Mountain Interventional Endoscopy Main Course for Gastroenterologists, Gastrointestinal Surgeons, and Gastrointestinal Nurses.

Eligibility

  • Gastroenterologists, Gastrointestinal Surgeons, and Gastrointestinal Nurses
  • You must be in an accredited ACGME-approved fellowship or ASGE-recognized Advanced Endoscopy fellowship
  • Preference for travel scholarships will be for PGY6 and PGY7. PGY5 are welcome to apply but will be automatically waitlisted and are not guaranteed a travel grant by being placed on the waitlist
  • If you have previously attended the program as a grant recipient, you are not eligible.  You may register as a regular attendee and pay the associated fees

Benefits

  • There are 72 grants available. Of the 72 fellow scholarships, 62 will be for USA ($1,000) and 10 will be international ($1,500)
  • The domestic travel grant value is $1,000 and is intended to assist with travel, lodging, and registration
  • At the conclusion of this activity, the participants could be able to:
    • Improve the performance of ERCP and EUS by understanding established indications, contraindications, techniques to optimize success, and minimize adverse events. This includes advanced and alternative methods of bile duct access and to employ therapeutic options of benign and neoplastic lesions in the pancreas and bile duct
    • Implement the best endoscopic identification and treatment strategies for patients with pancreatitis and inflammatory bowel disease and understand the importance of the role of new techniques and technologies to improve and expand treatment options and enhance patient education of alternatives to minimally invasive and open surgical options
    • Integrate practice guidelines and expert opinion in the identification and treatment of complex colonic polyps and patients at risk for polyposis syndromes. Implement the best endoscopic techniques to remove pre-malignant colonic lesions and to determine when surgical resection may be necessary
    • Identify pancreatic cysts and which characteristics may suggest pre-malignant disease and incorporate the most current guidelines for surveillance and when to consider surgical resection
    • Incorporate the most current algorithms in the treatment of upper GI bleeding and benign esophageal disorders such as eosinophilic esophagitis and achalasia

Application Process

  • When you begin the registration process, select “fellow” as your registration type.  Once you complete the process by registering, paying the registration fees, and submitting all supplemental information and forms as outlined on the registration page, you will be considered for a travel grant.  You will be notified of your grant award status no sooner than three weeks after submission and once all grant funding is secured
