AISES: 2023 Canada National Gathering Travel Grants

Hurry up!! AISES is pleased to announce the availability of travel scholarships for students to attend the AISES: 2023 Canada National Gathering Travel Grants in Vancouver, British Columbia from March 3-5, 2023!

Eligibility

To be eligible for AISES: 2023 Canada National Gathering Travel Grants applicants must be:

  • Identify with an Indigenous group in Canada, are American Indian or Alaska Native enrolled in, or a descendant of, a state or federally recognized tribe, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander;
  • Must be a full-time (12 credit hours or more) student at a two-year or four-year college or university, enrolled in a program leading to an academic degree (not a certificate) in a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) field;
  • Must have a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and a 9.0 scale for Canadian students or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA).  Latest official transcripts (issued by your school registrar’s office) are required;
  • Must be a member of AISES.  To obtain an AISES membership, go to https://www.aises.org/membership/ 
  • Must commit to attending the entire conference, including travel days
  • Both US and Canadian students are welcome to apply. Canadian citizens will be prioritized.



Benefits

  • Scholarships will cover the costs of registration fees, economy class round-trip airfare, and lodging. Students traveling from the US to Canada will need a valid passport. AISES does not offer passport support.

  • A completed Travel Scholarship Essay
  • A current resume
  • Verification of current school enrollment and standing
  • Undergraduate transcripts and/or graduate transcripts (unofficial accepted)

Selection Criteria

  • Applicants will be reviewed on the quality of their essays and explanations of why and how attending the AISES National Conference will benefit them, the letters of recommendation, the student’s involvement with AISES, and the strength of their GPA.
  • Travel Scholarship winners will be announced at the beginning of February.
  • Travel scholarship winners must attend all events and abide by the AISES Code of Conduct.  Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of all or a portion of the scholarship. View the AISES code of conduct.
