Travel Grants for Conference

Bio Chemical Society Travel Grants

CIMCIM is the acronym for Comité international pour les musées et collections d’instruments et de musique (International Committee for Museums and Collections of Instruments and Music. It is one of the 31 international committees of ICOM, the International Council of Museums, and was established in 1960.

CIMCIM aims to promote high professional standards in the use and conservation of musical instruments, museums, and collections. Travel grants for conference participants are usually offered both by the local organizer and by CIMCIM.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a museum professional, or aspiring museum professional, active in a field related to museums and collections of instruments and music.
  • Applicants under the age of 40.
  • The applicant has to provide part of the costs.
  • The applicant must submit a proposal for a paper, poster, or panel session (or other applicable contribution to the conference program). However, the award of the travel grant is not dependent on the proposal being accepted.
  • The application must be received by the CIMCIM Secretary by the deadline published in the call for applications. Applications received after the deadline cannot be considered.

Benefits

  • The number of grant recipients and the funding level should be decided by the CIMCIM Board (suggested: 20-80% of the total costs).
  • Travel grants usually cover part of the costs related to attending the conference, and particularly those related to transport to and from the venue of the conference, conference fee, accommodation, and subsistence.
  • Each grantee will be required to submit a report and/or a questionnaire within two months following the meeting, stating his/her experience and contribution to CIMCIM and ICOM activities.
